We had to leave in the middle of the night and pay for expensive last-minute accommodation elsewhere. There was no refund for the rooms, even though the stay was nothing like what the listing led us to expect. The heat and humidity made staying there feel unsafe, especially for the children. We booked four rooms because the advertisement suggested they had air conditioning. Instead, at 98 degrees Fahrenheit (37°C) and 80% humidity, the rooms felt like steam rooms. None of them had air conditioning, despite the impression the listing gave. When we raised this with the owner, my father-in-law explained calmly that his children had just come from the dry heat of Las Vegas and were struggling with the humidity, and that AC seemed reasonable in those conditions. The owner sneered and said, “Then go back to Las Vegas to your AC.” He was hostile and insulting instead of showing any concern for guests, including children, in that heat. The listing was misleading about an important amenity, the rooms were extremely uncomfortable, and we were left to cover the cost of finding somewhere else. I found the owner’s response and the refusal to refund us unacceptable. I’d warn others to stay elsewhere.
