A lovely, peaceful, and very clean place to stay in this magical city. Breakfast is included and really satisfying, and the woman at reception is so warm and sweet. I highly recommend staying here.

We’ve just left Hotel Fronius and are already wishing we could come back. Our room was spacious, cozy, and luxurious, with unusual antiques and the kind of design you’d see in a magazine. The view from the window looked like a postcard. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived and always ready to help with a smile. Breakfast was gorgeous, especially the homemade jams and warm breads and pastries from their bakery. The hotel has so much character, and we felt like royalty in a fairytale town. Thank you to the whole team for a perfect stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, even arranging help with our luggage when the festival had closed access to the hotel. Breakfast was simple but nice, with local food, homemade jams and cheeses, and traditional pie. The historic style suited the occasion, and the hotel was right in the heart of the medieval festival, which was very convenient. We had two rooms. Mine, shared with my husband and son, had a double bed that we were told was king size, but it felt a little small for three people. It was on the first floor, cool and comfortable for sleeping, clean, and nicely decorated, with toiletries, robes, and towels. My mom’s twin room was upstairs in what I think was the attic. It had a lower living-room area and an upper gallery with the beds, and it was extremely hot, almost impossible to sleep in at night. There are also a lot of stairs, which could be a problem for some people. We visited during a heat wave, so I can’t say what it’s like on normal days. All in all, we had a pretty good time despite the drawbacks.

The historic building is well preserved, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Our room was clean enough. Air conditioning was listed in the booking, but our room didn’t have it. The nights weren’t hot, though we would have liked a way to keep the bugs out. Air conditioning wasn’t essential, but the mismatch with what we expected was disappointing.

The location is great, and the staff are lovely, but I can’t recommend this hotel. The beds were the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. Either I couldn’t sleep because of the awful mattresses, or I woke up with terrible back and hip pain that made walking and enjoying the day difficult. I’ve never had mattress-related pain before. Our group had 11 people, and the rooms varied hugely. Many are extremely basic, especially if you need a single or twin room. It felt as if only romantic couples got a nice room and a comfortable bed. One room was like a prison cell, barely larger than a walk-in closet, with just a single bed and desk. The loft in room 6, where we stayed, was only a little better. For me, this is more like a two-star bed and breakfast that happens to be in a picturesque spot.
