Reviewing the restaurant. It felt like a tourist trap, and the soups with MSG were awful.

We stopped in just for lunch and had some good food, with generous portions. The waiter was polite and spoke a little Spanish. The pizza had that familiar old-school Romanian pizza taste you get in popular tourist spots, which was a fun blast from the past.

The Romanian beef soup and one of their popular pizzas were both good, and I finished with an old-school 80s banana split. Lunch for three courses came to £17, which was superb value. The terraced restaurant is on the busy Promenade roundabout in central Sinaia. It was busy without being full, and the service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I’d definitely return. Solid value for money.

The setting was nice and the food was pretty good, but the service was the one letdown in an otherwise lovely Romanian trip. Our meals came 20 minutes apart, so I’d finished mine long before my partner and daughters got theirs. The waiter was rude despite speaking perfectly good English, and there wasn’t even an apology. They seemed not to want our business. It was the first time I’ve ever left no tip.
