The hotel restaurant didn’t feel very inviting, and it seemed to serve Italian food rather than Romanian cuisine. For foreign tourists, it would be much more interesting to try local dishes. The pool was warm, and the jacuzzi was nice, but the pool was only open from 10 AM to 6 PM, exactly when we were out on excursions. It would be great if it stayed open until 9 or 10 PM. Our room was huge, with plenty of room for the kids to run around, and the window and balcony views were magical. The beds were comfortable, and they kindly provided a crib for our daughter. Breakfast was delicious, and parking was free. If you want to get echoes of the communist era, I recommend this hotel. Although it was built a bit later, in 1995, it still reminds me of former Soviet hotels. I didn’t like that part, but still.

We stopped for drinks at the rooftop terrace bar. Lovely views and service.

I don’t enjoy writing this, but people thinking about staying here should know what I ran into. We had a duplex on the eighth and top floor, with stairs between its two levels. The lower floor was comfortable and the temperature was fairly manageable, but the upper floor was so hot nobody wanted to sleep there. At night the wind shook the windows, and we couldn’t sleep at all. The hotel was full over the three-day weekend, with thousands of people, which made getting to the pool or restaurant and even finding parking a real challenge. The reception, pool, and rooms looked luxurious overall, though there were some issues: the doors looked as if they’d been forced or shot at some point, and the bathtub looked infected. I’ll show pictures. Service was alright, and the staff I dealt with were pleasant and friendly, though I didn’t interact with them much. The pool receptionist stood out for making everyone uncomfortable with weird jokes, at least I hope he was only joking. The pool was quite enjoyable, with both the indoor and outdoor sections heated, and the hot tub was okay until our last night, when the water got so hot nobody could stay in it. We told the pool receptionist, who said he’d turned up the heat just because he “felt like it.” Luckily, we managed to sort it out. The people staying next to us were extremely loud, shouting around the clock. That’s all I wanted to point out for now.

The elevators all worked fine, and breakfast was okay, with good coffee and a varied selection. There is a pool, but I didn’t use it. Beyond that, I can’t find much to like about this hotel. My room was extremely cold, even with the AC on maximum while the outside temperature was just below freezing. The hallway was warmer, and I could barely sleep. The TV wasn’t working properly, but they fixed it when I asked. The furniture is old and worn, and the bathroom looks bad, with worn faucets and a stained toilet bowl that was disgusting.
