We were about 15-20 minutes from the center, but there are shortcuts that make the walk quicker. It was quiet, and the squirrel visiting the nut basket every day made us happy. The room met the criteria I booked for: large, with a 160 cm bed, balcony, and kitchen. There was daily cleaning, the garbage was taken out, and the floor was mopped. The cleaning staff were fine, and although I never met the administrators in person, phone arrangements went smoothly. There were several problems, though. It was cold in mid-August, hot water took a while to come through, and the sewage system had issues. A doorknob was broken and caught my hand. The linens were torn, a problem I'd seen mentioned in older reviews that still hadn't been fixed. The balcony and stair railings weren't securely anchored, which is a serious concern with a small child. I couldn't empty the ashtray into the bathroom bin, and nobody came to clear it from the balcony for three days. I'd gladly return if they made improvements, because the place has potential. The other location, much farther from the center where I spent one night, seemed better maintained, and I didn't notice as many issues there.

We booked two rooms for one night, but one was upstairs and the other was down in the basement. That lower room felt like a cold, gloomy cellar, with broken parquet flooring, mold in the bathroom, and other problems. I asked whether the central heating was on, and was told it was only for hot water and that there was a blanket in the closet. When I asked for our advance payment back, the woman in charge came by, passed the money out of her car window, and drove off without speaking to us. She'd told me when I paid that the whole villa was occupied, but on arrival it was closed and nobody was there. A room in that miserable condition isn't worth 200 lei.
