City Hotel Slatina

There isn't an elevator, which could be a real drawback if your room is far from the ground floor. Prices are low, so it's a reasonable Slatina option if you aren't expecting too much. The rooms are clean and fairly well equipped, and the staff are kind. The food portions aren't large, though the dishes taste good and service is good. English is spoken only by the receptionists besides Romanian, while most employees can speak Italian.

I was there for two days. The place was clean and comfortable, though some parts of the hotel were a bit noisy. Breakfast was barely okay on the first morning, then very limited the next. By 9AM it seemed to be mostly leftovers. Maybe the low price explains it, but they should improve the food.

The location is good and the staff are friendly, but I had to haul my things up two floors because there's no lift. The place feels a bit old and badly needs a refresh. Noise from the bar downstairs was also a bit much.

I was in bed when they burned the kitchen down, and thank God we didn't evacuate. If you decide to sleep there, be ready to evacuate. When they burned the kitchen down last year, we had no hot water. The cleaning lady spent half an hour yelling on the phone in the hallway before I came out and told her I couldn't sleep because of the noise. Things could've been worse...
