The staff were friendly, and the hotel was clean with parking available. For an overnight stay, it was okay for the price, though the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I’d suggest paying in Lei. We paid in EUR and got a much worse exchange rate, losing about 25 EUR.

The room was excellent, with air conditioning, spotless linen and a capable, patient host. Even after hauling ten bike bags of gear up eight flights of stairs, we were happy with our stay. Finding the place in the dark was difficult, though, since there’s no street number or sign at street level.

The mattresses felt old and gave no back support. We tried two rooms and found the same issue in both. The toilet was dirty, with what looked like pee spots on it. Breakfast was decent, at least, but the options get repetitive if you’re there for more than two mornings.

The price was 180 Lei a night during my stay, and both the price and location were good. It’s about 8 minutes by car or 25 on foot to the old town, and an 18-minute walk to the bus station. The rooms are old and smell a little, possibly because of the carpet, but they were okay. Check-in and checkout were easy, and having reception open 24 hours was really important.

A solid 3-star hotel. Normandia bus station is 15 minutes away, and it’s a 10-minute walk to the University and the Bega riverside.
