Hotel Carmen Azzuro

I’m still trying to figure out what makes this a 4-star hotel. The location is okay for kids and families, but there aren’t many restaurants or things to do nearby. There are no attractions or activities, so we were left with nothing to do and got bored. The food is definitely better outside the hotel, and you can easily find a 65RON meniu with amazing food. The drinks were a very cheap mix too. Service was poor. They wouldn’t clean the room, only change the towels. The food was 3 stars or less, and there was no coffee machine in the room. When I tried to take one from downstairs, I was told off and asked to pay. I didn’t accept that. I’ve never experienced anything like it. The staff were very rude, especially the barman. We asked him for towels, and he rudely said “no more” and that we’d come too late to the swimming pool, even though it was 2.30pm. There were no towels available then for a 4-star hotel. We had to wait an hour for the little croissants, the only desserts available, and they put them out just five minutes before breakfast ended. The slide schedule was written on the door as 3pm-6.30pm, but they kept changing the hours without advertising it anywhere. We organized our days around their schedule. When I arrived at the pool with my nieces at 5.30, expecting another hour on the slides, they’d closed it. They first said they’d decided to open earlier and close earlier for no reason. When we got upset, the manager said there was a technical issue. It was unbelievable. It’s very sad to see this in my own country. I haven’t had such poor conditions in other countries, even at 2-star hotels. Very sad.
