Habitat Hostel

What bothered me most was the setup: volunteers, mostly from Eastern Europe, seemed to be doing all the work while the owner took money from overcrowded rooms. The workers looked genuinely burnt out. The place felt more like a business scheme than a proper hostel. It's cramped, with far too many beds squeezed into a tiny space to maximize profit. There are much better options nearby that treat guests and workers with more respect.

The price and location sound appealing, but those seem to be the only good things. The beds were very uncomfortable and kept squeaking, cleanliness was questionable, and the noise carried on constantly. Loud snoring, slamming doors and the big dog barking regularly made it almost impossible to get decent rest. I honestly preferred being out all day to coming back here.

The cheap price just wasn't worth it, and there are much better options in the city. Habitat Hostel is tiny, with just one bathroom for the whole place. Even when it's cleaned, so many people use it that it's constantly in poor condition. I can't understand how it has over 4 stars. This is the worst hostel I've stayed in, and I've been to at least 60. The kitchen and common areas are often taken over by older men who seem to live there. The kitchen is very small, the fridge is messy and dirty, and using the space is nearly impossible because these long-term guests are around so much. Food also frequently gets stolen from the fridge. With the hostel mostly filled with older men, it didn't feel ideal for solo backpackers, especially women. I often felt unsafe and uncomfortable because of their behavior. There was no real backpacker vibe, and guests were noisy at all hours, day and night. I also saw the male owner being extremely rude and disrespectful to a staff member or volunteer who was cleaning. I don't recommend this hostel at all.

I felt unsafe during my stay and wouldn’t recommend this hostel. The host stayed on the common room sofa looking semi-conscious, with glassy eyes and erratic, incoherent replies, so even basic guest needs were hard to discuss. I can’t tell whether there was a serious medical problem or intoxication, but the situation felt deeply uncomfortable and unpredictable. The location is central, though the atmosphere was very unprofessional.
