They called as soon as I confirmed the booking to ask when I’d arrive. I said 6 PM, and they sent a video saying the place was a bit small and I might not like it. I said that was fine and confirmed I’d come. But while I was on my way, they told me payment had closed at 4 PM and said not to come because nobody could meet me. I asked why they hadn’t told me earlier, since we’d agreed on 6 PM. They answered rudely, saying there were plenty of places for 50 euros and I should book one of those, then asked how many times they had to tell me not to come. When I called it bad business and said I’d complain, they said, “I don’t care, do whatever you want.” I was very unhappy with how they treated me, especially when I was just five minutes away. They should have let me know beforehand.

I got to Belgrade at 11:30 and messaged the host to ask if the apartment was ready. I said 2:00 PM would be fine too, but got no reply. I arrived at 2:10 PM and let the host know I was there, adding that I’d grab a coffee at a nearby restaurant and they could take their time. Then I was called and told I couldn’t check in because there was “a problem with a light.” It sounded like an excuse to me. The new place they suggested would have meant waiting 40 minutes, which in Serbia is at least an hour! 😉 I would have missed my trip on the Danube, so I had to find somewhere to stay myself. The apartment looks really nice, but that didn’t help me when I was left without a place at the last possible moment. Dear host, that’s not how you handle this! 😶🤨🙄😟🤬
