The staff were friendly and very polite. When they heard my family had to leave early one morning, they opened breakfast an hour early for us, which was kind. The price is inexpensive and might suit a backpacker, but the beds were very uncomfortable. The location is okay, neither great nor terrible. Wedding receptions took place on the neighboring grounds every night we stayed, noisy around the kids’ bedtime, though things quieted down later. The biggest problem was checkout: we had been assured electronic payment was accepted, but the card machine wasn’t working. That’s common enough, but we had to use all the RWF we’d saved for our trip back and some USD too. It was extremely frustrating, especially since payment had been a serious topic when we booked.

Breakfast is good for the B&B price. The rooms could use fresh paint, and each twin bed should have a mosquito net. The shower needs a curtain and a different shower head, and the toilet door needs a lock.

The staff were very nice. There seemed to be three conferences going on the day I stayed, so I’m not sure how tourist oriented this hotel is. It does have the services you’d expect from a typical tourist hotel, and while it isn’t right on the lake, it’s not far away.

The room was big enough for two, and the balcony view was breathtaking. The hotel is inexpensive, around 30k, and sits in a safe neighborhood within walking distance of Lake Kivu and the DRC border. Wi-Fi was good, and there was hot water. The soap they provide smells great too. Breakfast is included, with a wide selection of fruit and enough tea. Try the restaurant: the food is great and cheap. I had ubugali with stew and small fish (isambaza), which I absolutely loved. Bring USD or RWF cash, since the debit or credit card machine may not work.

The rooms were basic but sufficient, and parking felt safe with a guard. Reception were always helpful, and the Wi-Fi worked well enough. Breakfast was included with a good variety and fruit. The restaurant food was incredible, especially the beef stew and cassava, and it wasn’t expensive at all.
