Nozol Bakkah Hotel

I’ve never had such good service at a hotel in my 33 years. The owner, staff, and everyone there were so helpful. It was my first time in Mekkah, and I’ll definitely come back to this hotel again and again. Booking.com made mistakes on the day we arrived, but the owner even paid for our taxi and helped us sort things out. It felt very safe, and the service was great.

This place is called Nozol Almokhtarah Hotel, not Nozol Bakkqh Hotel. There seems to be an error on Google Maps that needs correcting.

The receptionist was nice, but the stay was awful. My first room was unclean, so I was moved to another one, and that was dirty too. There was no water in the bathroom, and I had to wait for the tanks to fill.

We spent four nights here, from 29 December 2018 to 2 January 2019, while visiting Mecca for Umrah. I work in Dhahran and had come with my family. After more than 12 hours of travel, I was told I couldn’t park in front of the hotel, despite what I’d been told. I explained I was unfamiliar with Mecca and asked where to leave the car. The receptionist, or whoever he was, told me to cross the bridge and find a spot. That was hardly a clear answer. I asked about the bus schedule and was told it came every 15 or 20 minutes. We waited from 10:45 pm to 11:35 pm. One employee blamed problems between the driver and the bus company; when asked, the driver said he’d been looking for a fuel station. Another hotel guest eventually told me where I could park. I took a taxi and completed Umrah, thank God. The next day the bus had broken down outside and needed maintenance. Room cleaning was just as bad. We asked for the room to be cleaned before going to Haram by taxi around 5 pm. When we returned around 11 pm, it hadn’t been touched. Another family was also complaining. We waited about an hour for a cleaner, but the room was still dirty: the bins hadn’t been cleaned, the sheets hadn’t been changed, and the dirt had simply been pushed from the middle of the room to beside the wall. It was disgusting. The next day we left around 5 in the afternoon, asked for cleaning again, and came back about 10:30 pm to the same mess. After another hour’s wait, the sheets were still unchanged and the cleaning was poor. The TV didn’t work, and when I asked for help so my kids could watch children’s channels, an employee told me to adjust the settings. I said I’d tried and asked if anyone could help. He said maybe in the morning, but nobody came before we left. On our last night I requested cleaning before returning from the Haram because we had to travel early and needed to sleep. The room was still untouched. When I went to speak to an employee, he was on the phone and turned away to avoid me. I left and went upstairs determined to write about this terrible experience in the holiest place on Earth. No cleaner came that night, and nobody helped carry my travel bags. This hotel isn’t worth a single riyal. Stay away and spend your money somewhere that respects people and their dignity. I’ll never come back, even for free, or if they paid me to stay. There is no strength except in Allah Almighty.
