Makin Hotel

I really appreciated being allowed a late checkout. My room was brand new, comfortable, and very clean, and the hotel as a whole was extremely clean. The staff were generous, kind, and welcoming, with excellent service. An excellent stay at Mekin El Madina Hotel, highly recommended.

The only downside was construction right outside the hotel. Otherwise, it was nice and clean, with lovely, helpful staff, and Masjid Nabawi was a seven-minute taxi ride away. I’d recommend it.

I liked being away from the crowds and seeing Mount Uhud every day, so I’d stay here again. It’s close to Mount Uhud, and Masjid Nabawi is a 30-minute walk or a seven-minute taxi ride away on the King Fahad Road side. The hotel is new, clean, and has fresh decor, though it was expensive in December 2025 for such a small place. In my opinion, they need to think carefully about pricing. I paid Haram rates for a hotel that’s somewhat distant. Since they’re new, perhaps, service was lacking. There were no regular room cleans or towel changes, though they would do those if asked. The Bengali night manager helped us a lot and made sure our stay was pleasant. The Urdu speaking Arab lady agreed to do things but didn’t follow through, so she didn’t seem to do much. There’s a restaurant on site, but we didn’t use it. The free shuttle runs only for prayer times. The timings could be better: it drops you off just 10-15 minutes before salah, and in peak times such as December, that makes it hard to find a place within the Haram. They need to sort out a website, bring in more decent staff, and establish a functioning operations team.
