Rose Alrefe Resort

I had a great stay here two years ago, but the cleanliness hasn’t been kept up since. Cockroaches in the cabin were extremely annoying, and the garden tiles are coming apart. Bats flew around the pool and garden at night. There were nails sticking out of the dining chairs, which we luckily noticed before anyone was hurt. The cups and pots were all broken and leaked when we used them. I wish they’d maintained the place like it was on my first visit.

Based on the owner's question, here’s why I can’t recommend this place. The person who communicates with clients speaks politely, but the person handling arrivals showed no respect. He seemed concerned only with collecting the full rent in advance and a cash deposit. The cottage was in very poor condition and badly looked after. Reptiles were crawling on the wall, and when I told the staff member, he killed one with his hand and tossed it away with obvious disgust. There were so many flies that sitting down was impossible, and chasing them was all we could do. There were plenty of fly swatters, though. We agreed on a cottage for six, but the space could fit no more than four. There was one towel for everyone, and the sink wouldn’t drain. The pool was dirty, and its pump was so loud it was unbearable. The pool shower was broken with no water. Things hanging outside the cottage were loose against its wall and made irritating sounds that kept everyone from sleeping. Everything I’ve mentioned is visible in the uploaded pictures.

We had a good family stay at Al Nargis Royal and made many great memories. I think the high scores are deserved, though a few things need attention. The path should be fixed, since my father nearly fell and my kids tripped several times. The palm behind the kids slide needs trimming because it could hurt them when they climb the stairs. The AC filters need cleaning too. For a family cottage, the TV should be mounted on the wall instead of sitting in the middle of the living room where a one year old could easily break it. The windows, especially upstairs, also need better and safer locks.

The service was top notch, and the whole experience was amazing. The resort was clean and peaceful. We chose the lotus chalet, which suits 1-2 families really well.
