The staff were lovely, and the hotel has plenty of character, but there are some things to know before booking. It's close to central Honiara, so business travelers can walk to government offices instead of looking for a cab. Higher floor rooms have decent rooms and stunning views of Honiara and Iron Bottom Sound. Friday and Saturday nights were very loud. The live entertainment in the bar and restaurant sent bass through the walls even to the upper floors, and the crowd got rowdy. I barely slept, so I imagine it was worse on the lower floors. The funicular is a quirky way to get up to the rooms, but it was out of order during my stay, making the stairs a serious workout. If walking is difficult, ask for a ground floor room behind reception. You'll avoid the stairs, but be right next to the loud music. Security felt a little lax. A couple of outsiders came right up to me in the lobby trying to sell things while I was relaxing. The hotel should probably tighten that up so guests feel more settled.

The kids had fun in the pool, and the family rooms were comfortable and affordable. Air conditioning didn't work well, and water could be a problem sometimes. The cable car also wasn't working at full capacity. The top levels have great views of Iron Bottom Sound.❤️

The location is central, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But the hotel feels tired and shabby, and the standards are very poor for the price. They say there's a gym, but it doesn't exist. WiFi in the rooms costs extra, and the rooms are old and basic, nowhere near worth the price. I was told mine was on the first floor, but the place is like a maze and “first floor” doesn't really mean anything.

The hotel is in full renovation, which is why the price is lower, but there was no internet in the room. Some rooms were in poor condition, and there was a lot of construction in the common areas. It's very close to downtown, though. We'll see what it's like once they've renovated the place.

For Honiara, where the choices are pretty slim, it was good enough. The room was clean, the WiFi cost extra but worked well, and the weak air conditioning did the job. The pool was the highlight. The property is pretty beat up, though, and terrible value.
