Bwaver Cottage

Lindy and Jemmy were wonderful hosts, and Bwaver cottage was a perfect place for the 10 days I spent there with my family. The garden is beautiful, with an outdoor kitchen surrounded by greenery. We were close to a shop for food and drinks, as well as the stunning Anse Source d'Argent. Our room was cleaned each morning while we were out, and the sheets and towels were changed. The WiFi worked really well. We’ll definitely return!

Bwaver cottage is close enough to Anse Source d'argent to walk there, and bikes can be arranged at a lower price than in La Passe. Jamie can take you to the ferry and also drive you up to restaurant bellevue, with its mountain view, for a reasonable price. The hosts know good guides for hikes too, for example to anse marron. We stayed for over 12 days on each of our two visits, in September 2021 and November/December 2020, and loved the relaxed feel of La Digue. Lindy and Jamie did a lot to make us comfortable. Lindy served whatever we asked for at breakfast: fresh juice, fruit, homemade banana cake and jam, or an omelette. They cleaned the room while we ate. At least once a week they put on an amazing barbecue with market fish, curries, salad, chutneys, breadfruit, and rice. There was so much fresh, delicious food for a great price. The interior was clean and nice, and the air conditioning worked well. We’ve never felt so relaxed after a holiday, and this definitely wasn’t our last stay at Bwaver cottage.

I was charged 800SCR a night when I left, even though we’d agreed on 400SCR before check-in. I tried to explain and work something out, but they wouldn’t budge. I had to get cash from the ATM just five minutes before my ferry, and honestly felt robbed. I was also charged 150SCR per day for a bike rented there, while other places charged 100SCR. The kitchen had ants everywhere and the fridge was very dirty, and there was no wifi. I spent two days at Lindy's, and it was the worst experience of my vacation. I met quite a few tourists during my stay, and you can find much better accommodation than Bwa Ver, cheaper, with wifi and better hospitality.

I booked by accident, but now I know I’ll come back. Bwaver cottage feels like home, with kind owners, a peaceful farm atmosphere, and nature all around that helps clear your head. A hotel might look nicer or be more comfortable, but the kindness here is priceless. For me, it’s the best place on La Digue if you want to feel at home.
