Chalets D'Anse Forbans

We chose this residence for a quiet holiday and that’s exactly what we got. It’s quite far from Mahe’s main attractions, so I’d say a car is necessary, though public transport is available. We didn’t try it. The property is also the starting point for the Anse Capucin trail, which goes to two beautiful, almost deserted wild beaches. Brigitte gave us a warm welcome and explained things clearly. She was very kind and helpful throughout, including with booking a tour and arranging what we wanted to do on the island. The grounds stayed peaceful day and night, and we enjoyed sunbathing on the garden loungers. They aren’t allowed on the beach because of turtle protection. The beach is amazing, just about 20 metres from the cottage door, or a little farther for the rear family cottages. It was mostly empty, with residence guests, local fishermen, and only the occasional passerby. There are some nice snorkeling spots with colorful sea life. In October the sea was mostly calm, with very low waves, though it stayed quite shallow for the first few dozen metres. We spent eight nights here as a couple in October. The cottages are well maintained and set up as two adjoining apartments, but we felt comfortable and separate from the neighbors, whom we barely saw or heard. The bedroom is spacious and air-conditioned, with daily cleaning. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and appliances, including a stove, oven, and kettle, so it was easy to cook and eat in the small dining area or on the balcony. A couple of things were disappointing. We had to buy our own toilet paper, salt, pepper, and other basics, which we felt could have been included with the otherwise great service. We also asked to stay an extra one or two hours after our eight-night booking because our flight was in the evening, but the staff wouldn’t make an exception. We warmly recommend it to anyone after a quiet place with a wild beach and self-catering. Thanks for the lovely hospitality, Brigitte. We’ll definitely visit again.
