John, the owner, was interesting and helpful, though perhaps a little intense, depending on your taste. The view really is excellent, and the staff member, the only other guy there, was nice. The rest of the place was unfortunately in rough shape. It may have been great once, but now it feels tragic, as if it hasn’t been maintained for a decade. Paint was chipped and falling off all over. The pool was in disrepair, with many cracked or missing tiles, and broken chairs nearby. Right next to it there was a 3 meter drop with no railing, or a railing below knee height in some spots. Part of the roofbox corner was coming down. Behind the hotel, visible through the bathroom windows, there was a lot of trash. The room was clean, but outdated and cheaply furnished. The lighting was poor and the TV didn’t work. The bathroom seemed recently redone, but the toilet seat was cracked and worn, and one shower handle was broken. Breakfast was acceptable. They were supposed to serve dinner too, but told us the cook was on holidays.

The view can be nice when the weather cooperates, but that was the only good thing for us. The hosts were rude and greedy, there weren't enough staff, and the back of the house was messy. The villa is far from the area's beaches, so you need a car to get around. There are plenty of hotels and pensions to choose from. I'd forget this place out in the middle of nowhere. Never again.

The quiet and the views make up for the basic maintenance that could use attention here and there. Getting up the road is quite a climb, but at the top there's a stunning view. The pool looks out over Beau Vallon bay, with all that beauty around you.

We loved the service from everyone, and Michel and Jon were incredible hosts. Petit Amour is a stunning villa with spectacular views, though the drive up is steep. We’re already planning to come back as soon as we can.

I stayed here in October 2018, and looking back at photos from my Seychelles trip made me want to write this. The whole experience was amazing, from the owners and staff to the food and service. If I make it back to the Seychelles, as I hope to, I can’t wait to visit my favourite villa again.
