We booked the 1 Bedroom Bungalow on booking.com a month before traveling, while we were in a hurry. That turned out to be one of the worst days of our whole trip. The room was awful and felt unlivable. It was like a tiny shell, with leaves blocking the way in. We considered booking somewhere else, but the ETA and other issues made that very difficult, so we managed one night and checked out the next morning. It may be cheap, but spend a bit more and stay somewhere else. I’m talking about this particular room, since the other rooms seem nice based on the reviews. The owner, one of the grandmas around Seychelles, seemed modest and a bit more communicative than others, but acted like she knew everything. I told her the payment had been made, and she kept insisting that it hadn’t been paid through booking.com. After I politely explained it three to five times, she checked, saw that it was paid, and had nothing to say. As guests, we deserve better respect. She wasn’t too bad overall compared with the other grandmas we encountered, but that room was just awful.

For a tight budget, the location is a real plus. You’re near a magnificent beach, shops, and restaurants, and there aren’t many places like this on Praslin. The price is very reasonable for the Seychelles and includes the amenities needed for a good holiday, rain or shine. Each room has its own fully equipped kitchen, so you can save money by cooking instead of eating out. The staff are local and very helpful, and know the island well. Great value for money, I recommend it.

The one good thing about this place is its location, just a three-minute walk from the nice beach at Anse Volbert. The rooms are very old, with lots of insects everywhere. Hot water didn’t work in one room, so we were moved to another, where I burned my hand because the water was extremely hot. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I’ve stayed in huts in the wilderness that felt cleaner and safer than this place. There was mold across the ceiling like a giant spiderweb, no hot water in the shower, several lizards in the room, and dirty bedding. I stayed here six months ago and still have nightmares about it. Worst accommodation I’ve ever had!

The common area was the one bright spot. It could be a nice place to meet other guests and share stories. Everything else made this the worst decision of our stay in Seychelles, especially since much better rooms are available for just a few euros more. The room was old-fashioned and smelled moldy. The mattress was badly worn and needed replacing long ago, with every coil easy to feel, so sleeping was really difficult. The kitchen equipment was old and dirty. Wi-Fi was only available in the common room and barely worked; most of the time, we couldn’t even open a webpage. The host was another disappointment. Everything seemed like a struggle for her, and she couldn’t give us proper information about the bus schedule or nearby stores. She even asked why we came there, saying some other countries were nicer and cheaper. The air conditioning could only be used at night, and the walls were so thin we could hear guests talking in other rooms.
