Motel L Älvsjö

The gym was very clean and had a good range of equipment. I was also glad to find free, unlimited coffee, tea, and hot water at reception. Late checkout until 6 pm worked amazingly well with my flight. The staff were super polite, and my room was clean and spacious, though it had no fridge. The motel is some distance from the city centre, but public transport is excellent: the train station is a few minutes’ walk away, with regular trains taking around 12 minutes to the centre. There are buses nearby too, though I didn’t use them. There’s a Coop shop close by that I believe stays open until 10 pm. I stayed three days and couldn’t have been happier.

The station’s back alley feels unsafe at night, and the bathroom drainage needs fixing. Apart from that, the room was clean and cozy, just right for unwinding after a long day. The lobby has hot water and tea, a nice touch, and the simple Swedish-style breakfast was good. Better than expected, and worth it. Just choose your route carefully.

The rooms are compact, but clean and comfortable, and the hotel’s a few blocks from a train station. It’s a little south of central Stockholm, which helps explain the great rate. There are also a few nice restaurants and a grocery co-op nearby. I liked the smart, stylish design, welcoming staff, relaxed lobby bar, and fresh, delicious breakfast with lots of breads and spreads. The night manager Scott was a standout and helped arrange very early transport back to the airport. I had a short stay in Stockholm this week and kept coming back to this hotel after looking at the other options.

Service was good, and they let me leave my luggage in their storeroom, which worked well for me. But when I asked for early check-in, they wanted an extra €20, and the price felt very high for the service. They didn’t provide a toothbrush or toothpaste, or even a bottle of water in the room. It’s a little away from the city centre, though buses, trains, and the metro can get you there. There are some restaurants and hotels beside the location.
