After a long drive, we stopped overnight in the small town of Esklöv, which we didn’t know beforehand. We’d checked that there were reasonably priced places to stay and a few restaurants for dinner. Hotel Brink is a newer, affordable, clean, quiet, modest place in a small industrial area, a couple of kilometers from the town center. Parking is free behind a gate that closes at night, and check-in uses a code. The rooms are small, basic, clean, and have separate beds. There’s no air conditioning, though luckily our night wasn’t hot. Breakfast was good for the room price, and the spacious breakfast room also works as a lounge. We found it very good value for money, though the lack of AC could be a nuisance in summer.

We got into the area quite late after driving through Europe to Sweden, but the team still found a room for my friend, me, and our dog, which we thought might be tricky. They were friendly and made us a delicious breakfast. A great place to stop after a long drive, and we’d definitely recommend it.

At least the place was clean, but it was chilly. The bathroom floor was ice cold, and the shower took about five minutes to warm up, then went cold again after another five. There was no hairdryer. Apparently cleaning only happens on workdays, so if you run out of toilet paper on Friday afternoon, too bad, I guess. Breakfast was really boring. On Sunday morning, the person arranging it wore workout pants and socks and had earbuds in. Some boiled eggs seemed to be mixed with cold ones from the day before, I guess, and late guests had no butter, just Lätta. I wasn’t impressed. I paid the full 845,- even though the online price was 636,-.
