Clarion Hotel Post, Gothenburg

The big red bow on the building was the real showstopper. People passing by stopped to admire it, and it looked striking and elegant. Everywhere inside was beautifully decorated too, giving the whole place a warm, magical feel even with a lighting storm outside. Clarion Hotel Post really creates an unforgettable winter attraction. It welcomed us with a full Christmas vibe and felt like a festive wonderland in the heart of Gothenburg. Absolutely stunning in winter!

The atmosphere is stylish but still welcoming, cozy with a touch of sophistication. I enjoyed relaxing there and getting a little sense of luxury. I didn’t speak with any of the staff, but the complimentary coffee for Strawberry members was a lovely detail. I’ll definitely return!

I was in Gothenburg for a conference and needed a comfortable, efficient base. Clarion Hotel Post worked well for that, though I’d rate it 7.5-8/10, with a few annoyances. The location is excellent, and staff were consistently professional, courteous, and effective. Check-in and checkout were very quick, whether using self-service or getting help. I stayed in a Superior Room on the 5th floor. The room felt premium and had a good view, the bed was genuinely comfortable, and the towels and robe were excellent. The minibar had a proper selection. My room faced the trams, though, and the screeching outside woke me early. Light sleepers should ask for a room away from that side. The bathtub worked, but its dents made it look worn. The rooftop spa, heated pool, and bar were a highlight. The pool can feel cold in winter, and the spa was regularly packed around 17:00-18:00, so I couldn’t use my spa pass as much as I’d hoped. The gym was fine for keeping up a routine. Laundry was expensive but reliable and good quality. Breakfast was excellent, especially the omelette station. Wi-Fi was free, fast, and easy to connect to. As with Wi-Fi anywhere, assume tracking and use a VPN if that matters to you. For dining, Norda was surprisingly underwhelming. The lobster pasta was plain and boring, an easy skip. Vrå had good food and a great wine list, but I’m not sure it was worth the price. Noot is a two-minute walk away and a better bet if you want an interesting menu. The toiletries, apparently Rituals, smelled oddly cheap, like soda-style soap, which clashed with the hotel’s premium feel. A dependable business hotel with a great location, good service, comfort, breakfast, and rooftop facilities. The tram noise, crowded spa at peak times, and one very skippable restaurant pulled it down for me.

Ebba was the friendliest staff member I’ve ever met. She kindly told us about the city and gave us a room with a great view. The weather was perfect the next day, and we really enjoyed the beautiful city. Breakfast was delicious too. We stayed one night, and the location was great, right next to the central station.
