First Camp Gränna

The location is great, but paying around 800 SEK a night for three people to pitch on a patch of grass feels way overpriced. The showers are cramped and poorly put together. Our showerhead was broken, and the whole area looked dirty and a bit gross.

We stayed in November 2025 and everything was really good. I just wish we’d been given a cabin facing the water.

The campsite is decent, but it’s a large grassy field with pitches packed close together, so there’s basically no privacy. The bread is very average, just standard supermarket prebaked stuff heated up. You can buy half-baked bread at the supermarket and use the ovens provided, which is what they do, and it’s cheaper. Some of the sanitary facilities are very modern, and it’s nice that showers are included in the price. You do have to keep pressing the button every two minutes or so, though. The signs are really confusing. There are separate buildings for regular toilets and family rooms, but instead of one family sign like at other First Camp sites, they’ve put up separate toilet and shower signs for the family rooms. Since people pass the regular toilets between the two family-room buildings, they only see those signs and start using the family rooms for showers and toilets. Then there are huge queues for the four family rooms, while nobody uses the toilet building. It’s extremely annoying when you’re there with family and have to wait and keep telling people there’s another building. At check-in, staff don’t give you the WiFi password. After reception closes at 16.30, good luck finding out what it is. You only need it when you get reception, which is doubtful anyway.

The prices seem OK: 40€ for a six-person tent without electricity. The place is nice for an overnight stay, and the utility building is clean and well equipped. They should add toilets near the last pitches, though.
