The cabins are simply equipped and small, and the site’s facilities may feel basic compared with a more modern campsite. Still, you have what you need. They’re in a quiet spot surrounded by woods, close to the harbor and everything around it, Kumlaby church, the island’s only grocery store, and its lit running trail. Some things around the grounds and in the shared spaces are worn and have been there a while. The cabin host is a very nice gentleman who keeps fixing things and working to make the place comfortable.

The cabins themselves were okay, and the children loved the playground with its old toys. But the standard is very low, and I won’t return or recommend this place. We chose cheaper accommodation so we could spend more on activities and restaurants with the children, knowing we’d mostly just sleep there. Even so, arrival was such a mess that I was irritated enough to search for other places from the parking lot. At the service building, we found a strangely placed sign with barely visible text saying reception was at a café. We went back, then spotted a small, unclear sign on a little building by the main road, with “reception” and a number. How were we supposed to see it? A man eventually came and opened up so we could pay and get directions. Arriving with three tired, little kids in the car was frustrating. A clear sign would have made things much easier. Maintenance is needed. One of my children was seriously injured when a board at the bottom of the ramp to the service building had fallen down. The shower was really bad, and there was no support board for the beds, so we had to squeeze in at the bottom with the children.

It’s well located, and being able to check ourselves in and out was handy. The shared kitchen, toilet and shower weren’t very fresh, but the accommodation was quite okay for one night.

There’s a small kitchenette with a coffee maker and basic things like cutlery and glasses. Each cottage also has a patio for six, a nice spot for breakfast or an evening drink, and there’s a playground for the children. The toilet is in a separate building. It’s a cozy place to stay when visiting Visingsö, and within walking distance of the knights' games we went to.
