It’s a quiet, cozy, classic place that works nicely for a retreat. The downsides are the late check-in, no twin beds, and being quite far from downtown.

The Tornionjoki River runs right beside the place, and that’s what earned it the fourth star from me. The apartment was comfortable for five to seven people, with clean rooms and linens, a cozy feel, and lovely old-fashioned furniture and objects. The local church is very close by too. The shower was frustrating: its thermostat wouldn’t hold the temperature and kept getting too hot, so I had to adjust it with my other hand while washing. The house is a little too close to the main building, with few neighbors, so there’s not much privacy in the yard. We were just passing through, and the night was comfortable enough. For a longer stay in a cottage or house, I’d want an outdoor table and chairs for summer, and more privacy from neighbors. It’s about 26 km from Haparanda.

A cozy, spacious house with everything you need, including a coffee maker. There’s a lovely fireplace to sit by, and it’s near Karungi's beautiful church and swimming area. The host was very nice.
