We came as a group for the lunch buffet, which was fresh and nice, and the staff were lovely, kind, and spoke English. There’s a pleasant shop too. I picked up a few souvenirs, including the northern lights poncho and the special Dessertsås Hjortron dressing.

There’s a big indoor kitchen with comfortable places to sit, and the camping pitches are well made. The place is beautiful and unusual, good for fishing and anyone who likes fish. Reception staff were kind, and the indoor and outdoor saunas made for an unforgettable experience. You can also visit the old fishing village nearby as an attraction. It’s close to the Finnish border and Santa Clause place.

[UPDATE] We drove about 45 minutes with my wife just to have dinner at Kukkolaforsen, and the meal was superb for a very reasonable price. We chose one of the set menus, I think it was called Kukkolaforsen. It began with an amazing smoked tartare, then came the very local traditional fish, followed by delicious crème brûlée. The river view is stunning, and you can buy locally caught fish smoked on site as you leave the restaurant. Highly recommended, we’ll be back. [UPDATE] This time we only had lunch, and it was tasty for sure, with smoked fish, of course. A great summer lunch. The coffee was the one letdown for my Finnish taste, definitely not strong enough.

A really tasty buffet, and a lovely view of the Tornio river through the windows. The dining room is spacious, clean, and nicely done, and the price is really good. What a great lunch spot!
