The Vault Hotel, WorldHotels Crafted

We had a junior suite with plenty of space and even double sinks, and we enjoyed the atmosphere in both the room and the hotel. Service was okay, and breakfast was on the better side. Just keep in mind that it’s next to a busy square with late-night drinking spots. We were on the ground floor, and on Saturday evening there was quite a bit of noise from people drinking outside, so bear that in mind if you’re sensitive to noise.

We paid 295 EUR for room 105, and it was impossible to sleep: street noise kept going, and loud footsteps on the stairs kept us awake all night. Our stay at The Vault Hotel was very disappointing. When we raised it at checkout, we were told “the windows can’t be changed,” which didn’t solve anything or meet what we expected from a hotel in this category. Guests should at least be told clearly if a room is unlikely to allow a proper night’s sleep. The lack of follow-up has been even more frustrating. The receptionist said the manager, Annelie, would get in touch and gave us her direct email. We sent two emails and have waited over two months without a reply, not even an acknowledgement. Both the stay and the customer service fell far below our expectations.

The hotel itself is a historic beauty, and breakfast was good. My room was tiny, with a bathroom that was actually bigger, so I had to open my double sided Italian suitcase in there. The young woman on duty the day I arrived was extremely unfriendly and arrogant. Reception was better when I left. They certainly need some customer service training.

There’s not much parking, though some is available farther down the road, and bars, restaurants and shops are all within walking distance. The hotel is beautiful from the moment you enter, with lovely reception service, stunning decor and a relaxing atmosphere. Going upstairs comes with gorgeous smells, or you can take the cylinder lift, the oldest lift in Sweden. Definitely recommend it. Just lovely.
