Hjortviken Country Club

We had dinner at the Club on Saturday, November 15, and it was wonderful. The salmon roe toast and grilled venison fillet with beetroot, green-cold blackcurrant browned cream and ox marrow sky were so good. Emil’s service was the icing on the cake, just perfect. Thanks for making our evening golden. We’ll be back soon.

I’ve visited the hotel several times for different things, from beer or coffee and meals to the pool club or a package. But dinner on Nov 9 was a letdown: portions were smaller than I remembered. The mushroom toast, for instance, was half the size of the one I had just a couple of months earlier. The taste and price were about the same.

Dinner was scheduled for a time chosen by some kind of software, and our slot was quite late for me. Then the main course took an hour to arrive, which felt extreme. Breakfast also required booking a time slot despite being a buffet. For what we paid, I was disappointed.

We had a great time at Hjortviken and found the restaurants on site surprisingly good. We didn’t try the Spanish-themed experience, so I can’t speak to that. The service was excellent throughout. There’s a lively, social feel to the place, more energetic than a quiet retreat. It suits couples, though I think a group of friends might enjoy it even more. We were happy with our stay and would consider returning, especially with friends.
