Hotel Carlshamn

I spent three nights here at the end of May for a game event. An older woman at reception was very friendly and helped me a lot, including explaining local life and the situation. Thanks so much to her and the other kind people. The breakfast was very good too, and both the hotel and town left a great impression on me.

A welcoming, large hotel by the harbour. Breakfast was good. Parking right outside the entrance is a bit tight, though there are also some roadside spaces.

I haven't stayed in a room here, but the lobby has a nice Scandinavian look. Last night was the yearly festival, so the city was full of people, music, and walkers. We had a great all-you-can-eat buffet on the patio, with good food and service. It's right in the heart of the city.

The hotel itself has a great style, a lovely lobby, and a good breakfast buffet. It's an older building, with a glass elevator rising through the roofed inner courtyard by the lobby and breakfast area. The location is right by the pier, within walking distance of everything important in Karlshamn. I understand the rooms are being renovated, and I can imagine a renovated one would be a 5/5 stay. The staff were great and tried to help, but there wasn't availability to move us to a better room. I was given an old, unrenovated room because of the special conference rate. It was very worn, with wall stains, mold in the shower, drill holes, stained and dented furniture, and what looked like a scorched metal cover on the bedside lamp. The double-room photos on the website were completely different, and the old rooms weren't shown at all. That felt quite dishonest, even if this was a special situation. We chose this hotel over another conference option because of those photos. Our window looked out onto a frying oil factory, and sometimes the smell came through.
