Camp Ripan

We could cook in the cabins, which was great since our budget didn’t stretch to dinner at the restaurant every night. We’d still recommend the restaurant for an evening meal, and the Aurora Spa was lovely too. Just remember spa access costs extra and isn’t included. Our stay at camp Ripan was great, and the included breakfast was amazing, with something for everyone 😊

The bed and room were comfortable, and it was nice and warm even in the winter cold. We had a lovely time, and the reception staff were friendly. The cabins are nice, though some bedside power outlets for charging would help, and the lights were very dim. Getting breakfast means dressing fully and walking outside to the main building. It’s a nice place on the outskirts of Kiruna.

We spent six days at camp ripan and found it one of the most comfortable, relaxing stays I’ve had in a long time. The place doesn’t exactly feel luxurious, but the cabins, rooms, location, staff, restaurant and spa were all a few notches above excellent. It’s family friendly, and the slopes are a few minutes away by car, as is the new town centre. We arranged excursions with other companies, and they were happy to pick us up and drop us back at the hotel. The spa was a decent experience. The location is apparently good for seeing the aurora borealis, but clouds kept us from checking that off our list. We ate at the onsite restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and all three were excellent. Some of the best arctic char and cod I’ve had, and the brown butter ice cream dessert was a chef’s kiss. You can’t go wrong with camp ripan.

We stayed in a cabin for four nights at Camp Ripan in December and would happily stay again. The bed was comfy, the room stayed warm, and it had useful extras like wine glasses, a wine opener and a mini fridge. One evening we tried the tasting menu at the lodge, and it was excellent. Breakfasts there were good too, and the cocktails were good. We also went on a couple of excursions from the lodge, both excellent experiences. One night brought a great showing of the Northern Lights.
