Hotel Hasselbacken

This is about the restaurant. The food was good, though the dumplings with mushrooms I ordered were a little oily and could have used less butter. I hadn't realized the famous Hasselback potatoes came topped with tuna, salmon and caviar, and I don't eat seafood. The dessert was good but not especially memorable, and the drinks were good too. The restaurant is in a charming old building, with a chic, refined, spacious and comfortable dining room. The waiters were attentive and polite.

We could get food easily when tired, since Bla Porten, our favorite cafe, was just across the road, and the morning buffet was excellent. Hotel bikes were available to borrow for riding around Djurgarden, where it felt like being in the countryside, or we could take the ferry downtown in minutes. Our family suite on the ground floor worked perfectly for five nights. The two teens shared the pullout couch, with a little space of their own away from us and patio doors opening onto a small courtyard. The room was across the hall from a lovely sauna and cold plunge room, which we used every day and always had to ourselves. The bathroom was spacious and clean, with a great shower, and everything felt very clean. The front desk staff were helpful and kind.

We slept really well in a comfortable room, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is in a great spot for the annual Dutch chamber of commerce dinner at the Vasa Museum. We had a wonderful stay.

This is a restaurant review. We were very pleased with the lunch for our daughter's baptism, which was for a fairly small group of 22. The food was really good, the staff were amazing, and the jazz band playing that day added a lot to the atmosphere. I wanted to give five stars, but arranging it was a disaster in the weeks beforehand. The restaurant didn't answer calls or emails, so four stars.
