Villa Dahlia Hotel

Our upgrade to a junior suite sounded glamorous until 6:30 a.m. A loading dock directly below us became a noisy scene of banging, rolling carts and a truck collecting linens. Sleep was basically theoretical. The room itself was so cramped that opening luggage became a puzzle. There was nowhere to unpack, no closet, and barely space to walk with our bags open. There seemed to be room for storage, but the design went for minimalism instead of somewhere for guests to put clothes. Two people with full-size cases would need choreography skills or a forklift. Even our rolling duffels felt like oversized roommates. The staff were genuinely lovely, professional and ready to fix things, and the hotel is elegant and well appointed, with a fantastic location and beautiful finishes. Street parking is available if you can master Stockholm’s Olympic-level parking rules and avoid the street-cleaning roulette. Still, the price doesn't match the reality of living out of bags and sidestepping them in a tiny IKEA showroom. Fancy, yes. Functional, only if your holiday wardrobe fits in a tote and optimism.

After my work meetings, I was happy to come back to Villa Dahlia. I had a wonderful stay, and I'll remember my short time in Stockholm fondly. The spa is REALLY nice, with amazing massages, thanks Andrew, and great attention to detail. The restaurant food was superb too. The whole team was genuinely lovely and accommodating.

Molly at the front desk was outstanding. She treated me so well, helped sort out a situation promptly, and made amazing suggestions. She really understood hospitality. The spa was fantastic and the restaurant tremendous. The hotel itself is stunning and absolutely world class. My only bit of constructive feedback: please switch to coffee pods in the rooms that aren't plastic.

We spent one night here at the end of December, after a couple of days skiing in Sälen. The bed was extremely comfortable, just what we needed. Our complimentary sauna pass came with the reservation through the hotel's website, and the sauna was a wonderful way to start the day. A lovely hotel overall. I hear the rooftop is beautiful, though we didn't get to try it.
