Katterjokk Turist Station is cozy, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The setting is amazing, with mountains, lakes and streams right outside, plus plenty of hiking trails and paths. Northern Lapland is easily one of Scandinavia’s most beautiful regions, untouched and timeless. I loved staying here and highly recommend the gorgeous hike between Katterjokk Station and Vassijaure Station, about two hours along a trail once used by railway workers.

This is a simple place, but fantastic for its mountain setting. It’s warm, with a Megan spacious shared room and 360 views of the Torne and mountains on both sides. There are separate saunas for men and women, drying rooms, cooking and cleaning facilities, and car parking 👌. And of course, lovely Frida 😍. The price is ridiculously cheap, so book ahead.

The accommodation is a bit old, but it has quaint charm, a nice communal area and a lovely sun terrace. The sauna block is brand new and very fancy, the staff are super helpful, and it’s great for families. The location is amazing, with beautiful walks in every direction and direct train access. If you want modern rooms, stay down by the highway at Ebbes Kok.

Frieda was a friendly and helpful host, and this is the best place to stay in the area.
