The one bright spot was the front desk being open around the clock. The hotel itself was awful and wildly overpriced. The dated interior felt untouched since the 70s, and the room fittings were cheap and old. At best, I'd call it a zero-star place. Sleeping in your car would save 250 euros and leave you feeling much the same. Breakfast was miserable too. They ran out of milk and didn't refill it, and the coffee tasted like sewage. I can't recommend staying here unless they renovate the whole hotel and bring the room prices down to something reasonable.

The city view from many rooms is lovely, and breakfast was tasty, though I would've liked a wider selection. We got the last available room, so I can overlook a couple of issues with its upkeep and preparation. It could use an overhaul, but it worked fine, and the hotel was nice overall. One little warning: the bathroom drying rack got so hot that we slightly burned our fingers when we touched it ;D

Our travel agency had made a mess of the bookings, but the hotel staff quickly sorted out rooms for several people in our group. They were helpful, and the rooms and beds were very comfortable despite the extreme weather outside. Breakfast had a broad selection, and the entertainment facilities were nice. We also really enjoyed the restaurant, so it's worth booking ahead. For what we got, the price felt decent.

We were new to Kiruna and arrived on a Sunday, when everything was unfortunately closed. A very friendly woman at reception welcomed us warmly out of the cold and helped us figure out our way around town. We stopped for coffee and brunch, and the coffee and sandwich were both great.

It was open on Christmas Eve, which was handy. My husband loved his burger. I had the salmon with wine sauce; the pairing didn't quite work, though the fish itself was fine. Service was great, and the two of us paid 500kr for drinks and dessert as well. If that sounds expensive, you've probably not been in Sweden long enough :)
