We loved staying here. It’s right on the beach, the breakfast was good, and the restaurant food was really nice too. Amazing place!

I really liked the dining room, especially the old furniture and big windows. The room was clean and nice, with what looked like a recent renovation, and the bed and bathroom were comfortable too. The staff were kind and helpful, and dinner was good. I just missed having meat at breakfast.

We had a lovely dinner here, and the staff were amazing. I want to apologize for leaving such a small tip. We were new to Sweden and had been given the wrong idea about tipping there. Sorry about that, the service deserved a better tip.

The staff were friendly, and the location was okay for us. The rooms were clean and fine, but quite small. The barn-style toilet door had a gap of about 20 mm all around, so there was no sound privacy. Breakfast didn’t feel up to hotel standard, just some bread, coffee, yoghurt and croissants, with no ham, bacon or fruit. An okay hostel/hotel.

The dinner was decent, and the service was friendly, but it wasn’t inspiring and felt overpriced. At 200 Euro a night, there was too much to overlook. The fire safety problem alone was unacceptable: the downstairs exit from the first floor was blocked overnight by two old mattresses. This is an old wooden house, with unattended lit candles in the ground-floor corridor and a library full of old books. When we raised the blocked exit, the couple running the place didn’t seem concerned. She casually said it was her fault. Their general attitude also didn’t feel like what I’d expect from people in hospitality. Our room had a charming, museum-like look, but nowhere to put our things. There was no wardrobe, chest of drawers or suitcase rack, and no room for toiletries in the bathroom, not even a toothbrush. We ended up spreading our clothes across the floor, which made the room lose its charm. It seemed the person who furnished it hadn’t considered that guests would actually use it. In another room, towels weren’t replaced. Our bathroom went uncleaned for four days, and the toilet paper wasn’t replenished. Dead insects stayed in the same places on the white stairs to the upstairs rooms for at least all four days. Nobody cleaned them. Breakfast was dull and the same every day: one cheese, one ham, boiled eggs only, some cereal and two kinds of fresh fruit. When I asked the manager for scrambled eggs, he simply said no, adding that they liked breakfast as it was. I found that answer amusing, since it seemed the owners’ preference mattered more than the guests’. Dinner followed the same menu each day, and the same playlist played at both breakfast and dinner. By the fourth day it felt like Groundhog Day. We even started naming the insects on the stairs. There was no shared space apart from the restaurant, which closed from 11 pm until 8 am. We were a group of eight with nowhere else to sit together, and would have liked to gather later in the evening or earlier in the morning. One night, while we were dining, a woman in our group stepped outside for air. The main entrance had been locked by the time she returned. She knocked on doors and windows, but the wind was so strong that nobody heard her. Staff shouldn’t lock the entrance while guests are still in the restaurant. There wasn’t much to do nearby. Klintenham has little to offer, though the harbour restaurant is quite lovely, and you have to drive at least half an hour to reach any interesting place. I was astonished that a good dinner in Klintenham cost more than you might pay at a Michelin star restaurant in London or Paris. Many of these issues might have been acceptable on their own, but together they were too much for the relatively hefty price of 200 Euro per night. Blocking an emergency exit is not acceptable.
