Norrehus

The building’s 100+ years of history comes through in all its little corners. It’s quirky and picturesque, eccentric while still stylish, and the rooms are comfortable after their recent renovation. The service feels friendly and personal, with that traditional local touch. I’d happily stay again, and the fact that at least one room allows pets earns it another star from me. My room had a shared bathroom, which was a slight downside, though it was spacious and recently done to a high standard. No bathtub, for obvious reasons. Breakfast is set out in the fridge, neatly presented, and you can eat it in a lovely dining room. The restaurant stays open into the late afternoon, then closes at night. That keeps things quiet, but arriving late and wanting food is less convenient. They can leave a menu dish in the fridge for you to heat later, and guests can use the kitchen. I had a huge slice of savory pie with salad and dressing, and it was very affordable.

We stayed the night of 14-15 October after hiking in Söderåsens National Park. The room was great and comfortable, and the owners were there to check us in. They showed us around and suggested places to go in the city. Very helpful.

There’s always something going on here, from concerts to lunch servings, and I keep wanting to come back. The walls have rock memorabilia and posters from old gigs, but the place still feels really clean. The food has been great each time I’ve visited. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the toilets are clean and well kept.

I always enjoy having Dagens lunch here. The food is fresh and tasty, and the staff are always smiling.
