HARUKO T.
Breakfast was what we counted on, and it was decent, filling, and a good fit for the rest of the hotel. The staff helped us, though they could come across a little grumpy. Getting to Stockholm’s tourist spots takes over an hour, but the public transport is efficient enough to make that manageable. The place worked for an overnight stay, and I was glad we booked it with Agoda’s big discount. Still, there are plenty of worn-down touches: the door took real effort to shut, the pillows were soft, and the TV didn’t work. The floor felt sticky under bare feet, though cleaning was offered every other day. The room was cold but tolerable. The heaters barely kept it warm, and since I get cold easily I needed lots of layers or had to stay under the covers. The shower pressure was great, but the water was only warm enough to shower, not to stay warm afterward. We also noticed the bathroom vent seemed to send smells and steam into the bedroom. Maybe that suits someone who likes bathroom smells. There was no kettle. Towels were free from reception, and water was free in the canteen. On the first night, two little creatures crawled on a pillow and around the trash can. We got rid of them and didn’t see any more. If you’re sharing a double bed and end up on the side without an obvious outlet, check behind the curtain. I didn’t, and spent two nights charging my phone near the TV, far from the bed, even though there was a plug right beside me. The attached videos show the room when we first went in.

The hygiene felt mediocre, and we had a few room problems: cracked sinks, scuffed walls, a broken shower, and no hot water. The room also wasn’t cleaned during our stay. Breakfast was disappointing. It’s a long way from the city centre, though you can get there by train. There are two Willy’s nearby, close to the Swedish equivalent of Liffey Valley shopping centre. At least we didn’t spot any silverfish.

The area was fine for exploring Stockholm, with buses and metro trains nearby running often. We stayed for a week and, despite seeing the mixed reviews only after booking, went in hopeful and weren’t let down. The room had what we needed, good water pressure, and a nice heater for the bedroom. Breakfast ran from 6:30 to 9:30. We were given one key-card for two people and one towel each, and had to ask for replacement soap.

The beds were comfortable, and the room and shower water were both nice and warm. Breakfast was good too. The rooms aren’t anything special, but for a budget night in stockholm, I think it’s just right, even with all the mixed reviews.

For sleeping, this is suitable and the cheapest. You get a bed, tv, shower and breakfast, pretty much all a man could ask for. If you’re with your bride, go somewhere else and pay more.
