Siljansnäs hotell was a really pleasant place to stay. From outside it doesn’t look like much, but the interior is modern and the food was great. It’s a countryside hotel that suits you if you’re after outdoor activities or a quiet getaway.

The views are breathtaking, and they’re what save this hotel for me. The restaurant food was disappointing for the price and inconsistent: the children’s main course was inedible, and the steak was tough and chewy, though one of the desserts was superb. Breakfast was mediocre, with almost no fruit or vegetables on offer. Our room had decent beds and good air quality, but we could hear everything said next door. The pool was very small and cold.

Dinner was very good, even with the short menu, which had a bit of everything: starters, meat, fish and vegetarian gnocchi. The hotel has been partly renovated and has a pool, and the view is nice if your room has a balcony. The shower was a disaster and flooded the whole bathroom. Breakfast was simple, and it was disappointing that we couldn’t order a cappuccino, even though it was on the afternoon and evening menu.

We had two connected double rooms, which worked perfectly for our family of four. Breakfast was great, and the service was lovely. Our dog Leica was treated wonderfully too. The family-run feel is what makes the hotel special, there’s warmth and care in the details that made us feel welcome and looked after.

Really loved the whole stay, and we’ll definitely come back in summer. Erik and his brother did a great job. I’d recommend it to couples, families and companies.
