Melderstein Herrgård

We went on a yoga retreat in early February and felt so welcome with Katarina, almost like part of the family. She arranged whatever we asked for, from special food requests and tasty dinner options to a tour, including an incredible husky sled ride. She also shared the hotel's history and much more. The hotel is beautifully restored and furnished, and the winter landscape around it was breathtaking, a real wonderland. I'd highly recommend a visit in winter.

The food really held up: we ate dinner there seven times and never had a bad one. Melderstein is also a lovely escape, with open fields, forests, rivers, no traffic or nearby neighbors, and a night sky that feels endless. Katarina was such a kind, helpful host. The rooms are simple, but they have loads of character and feel thoughtfully decorated.

I’d happily return. The owners are welcoming and knowledgeable, and the dinner menu was carefully put together and tasted great. The setting is beautiful, too. I enjoyed the exhibition about Melderstein Bruk and its owners, along with the preserved architecture and interior, which made the visit both interesting and educational.

The staff were genuinely helpful and professional. I’d strongly recommend staying here.
