Ohboy Hotell

They accepted my reservation and charged my card, then sent a private message on the day I was due to check in saying they were cancelling it. I was left without my money and out on the street. This is the worst service and the worst hotel I’ve encountered in Sweden, especially at a price you’d expect from a luxury hotel. If you want to experience that kind of treatment, book this scam “hotel.”

I arrived at Ohboy Hotel in June 2025 and couldn’t check in. The doors were locked, no one was there, and nobody answered my calls or messages. When I finally got inside, I was locked in the building for several hours with no help or response. I contacted the hotel and Booking.com repeatedly afterward, but got no explanation or refund. It felt unsafe and was extremely disappointing. The staff were unprofessional and disrespectful, just ignoring me. If you end up trapped there, you’re on your own. I travel often and have stayed in many places, but I’ve never experienced such bad service or such a serious failure of safety. I don’t recommend this hotel.

The room is cleverly laid out and has enough space for a family with up to two small children. Watch out for the steps, though, they can hurt you. There’s also a bike in the room, which we didn’t use, but it’s a nice feature. The small kitchen has enough equipment to cook simple meals and clean up, so the place feels more like a little apartment. It wasn’t very clean, though, and we found a lot of dust. The Swedish-style shower almost certainly floods the bathroom, making it hard to keep the floor dry. We didn’t have breakfast included, and I’m not sure if it’s available. The nearby places to eat were a bit underwhelming, so you’re left taking a bus or walking, both at least around 20 minutes to get where you want to go. Västra hamnen does have a lovely waterfront behind the Turning Torso, with a beautiful view of the Öresund and towards Kopenhagen. But that’s almost all there is nearby. We came for Malmö’s lovely city life, and that’s somewhere else.

The room was cleverly designed and worked well for the three of us, with just about everything we needed, though it wasn’t exactly cozy. We only stayed one night, arriving late and leaving early. Finding the room was straightforward once we got there, but the signs pointing to the rooms could be better. There’s free coffee and tea in the kitchen area, and the coffee was proper coffee, not instant, which was a nice touch. The WiFi was easy to connect to and worked fine. It seems like a good base for exploring the city, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again next time I’m in Malmö.
