It used to be a prison, and the inside still has that look, which makes for a really cool hotel. The rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable and the views outside are very nice. Breakfast was pretty good too. Definitely worth a stay.

The family room is spacious and nice, with a modern feel that doesn't spoil the old prison atmosphere. I don't know why I hadn't found this place sooner. I'll plan another stay here.

We were here for a swimming competition, so we mainly needed a room for sleeping and breakfast, and it did the job. Breakfast could have had more options, but given the price and location, we were more than happy. Just be aware that the bathroom and toilet are shared. The setting is cool and the price is low. Late check-in worked perfectly for us, with a key card accessed from a pin box :)

I'm still having dinner, and the staff have been really pleasant without hovering, which I appreciate, especially when I'm dining alone. The food is the best I've had in quite a while at a place like this. Chef Sibusisiwe, who comes from my ancestral and birth country, South Africa, brings a really appealing creativity to the flavors. The presentation and portion make you hungry, then satisfy you without leaving you uncomfortable from eating too much. I highly recommend the restaurant. Now to see how the accommodation is!!! 🤣

The breakfast is all you can eat, with a wide selection, though vegans might have a bit of trouble finding enough. It's a good hotel overall, but with bathrooms shared with others on the floor, it feels more like a hostel.
