Best Guest Vandrarhem

I spent two weeks here this summer while taking intensive driving lessons nearby. The place felt dirty and unsafe throughout the stay, even though the room I eventually got was clean. At check-in, they said the room I'd paid extra for wasn't available, so I had to take a smaller one for the night. It was full of used sheets and towels, pizza boxes and open soft drink cans. When I reported it, the only staff member there offered another room but wasn't sure whether it was occupied. They told me to check for myself. I wouldn't intrude on a stranger's privacy, and it was distressing to think staff might hand out extra keys to someone else's room. I kept my valuables with me because I couldn't trust that another guest wouldn't be given a key to my room. I got a third room after that, which was clean, but there was no compensation for the room I'd booked being unavailable, the filthy first room, or the unsafe way they handled it. Rooms are only cleaned on request. The shared kitchen had no fresh tap water, and they refilled water containers and took out the trash only every few days. The communal fridge smelled like rotting food. At least I didn't get bedbugs.

We came back after first staying here two years ago, and liked it just as much this time. The staff are nice, room 14 was great then and room 12 is just as good now. We called the day before and got a room straight away. We brought our cat both times with no problem. I think this place is so good😍

The bed was comfortable and the room was okay, but there was no shower or toilet in it. They were down the corridor, so it felt like a hostel. Check-in happens at the pub on the corner of the building, and if it's closed when you arrive, you're stuck. They don't answer the phone when the pub is closed either, which is completely useless if you're arriving late. It wasn't for me, and I can't recommend it.

Everything was clean, and the small, practical room was fine for a night. There's no proper reception, so you check in at the bar around the corner, which takes some getting used to. The welcome there was warm, and they showed us to our room.
