Elite Grand Hotel Norrköping

Rebecca kept our room immaculate and paid close attention to the details. I really appreciated her warm welcome and our lovely chats, and her local tips for shopping and dining were invaluable. Our spacious, comfortable family room made the visit enjoyable, and the staff were friendly and ready to help with anything we needed. We had a fantastic stay and would happily come back.

The location is central, so you can leave the car and explore on foot. Driving around can be annoying, especially with roadworks and closures. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was okay. The room itself felt closer to two stars, breakfast about 2.5, and staff/service around three. Compared with five-star hotels in Asia, Sweden's five-star hotels for middle-class guests feel like two or three stars, or worse, while costing much more. For me, this was an average hotel in Sweden, around two to three stars overall. Our Superior Double had a king-size bed, which I liked since I hate beds made by pushing two singles together. There was also a mini fridge because of the minibar. The floor was old and worn. The windows faced "Strömmen", but although the curtains covered the whole wall, the window itself was tiny and off to the left because we were in the far-left room. Soundproofing wasn't good, and we heard noise at night until 1-2am, including loud music and teens yelling. Earplugs were provided, but the noise still wasn't to our liking. There was no air conditioning, so in very warm weather you may struggle to sleep. No indoor slippers were provided, and bathrobes cost extra. Breakfast was an average European spread, with bacon, meatballs, bread, and similar things. At 175:- sek it didn't feel worth the price, though it was fine since it came with the room. The bacon was burnt black and crisp, but some other food, like the potato "chips", was very tasty. Parking cost an extra 190:-, though on weekends you could basically park around the hotel overnight for free.

We had a nice view from our window, and it's close to restaurants and shopping. I also enjoyed a morning run along the water. The rooms are a bit small and worn, but the service was great, breakfast was OK, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A big plus is having The Bishops Arms in the same building. Great location. I'll return.

The hotel sits right by the water and looks beautiful, with very friendly staff. Breakfast was a letdown and didn't meet what I usually expect from an Elite hotel. Parking is tricky since it's not right at the hotel.
