Scandic Strömmen

I went to the lobby for a drink around 22:00, and it was packed with loud children running and yelling. Breakfast between 8-9 was the same, and I couldn't hear myself think. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone hoping for a calm, enjoyable weekend.

The hotel's best points are its location, just a two-minute walk from the train and bus stations, and its beautiful lobby. Even though it seemed at most 30% occupied, with very few check-ins or check-outs during the two hours I waited in the lobby and none at 12:00 when I left my suitcases, they wouldn't let me check in before 16:00 unless I paid extra. The room has design problems: the lighting is poor, and the lamps are yellow instead of white. There's no kettle or free hot water for tea or coffee. They have coffee machines, but I wouldn't use them even if they were free. The heating can't be adjusted and is very weak, and it's strange for Scandinavia that the bathroom has no heated towel rack.

I'd give it 5/5 overall! I couldn't open the window, and the rooftop pool was busy all the time, so I never got a chance to sunbathe there. I wish Scandic Strömmen had a big rooftop swimming pool.

The breakfast room was too small for the number of guests, and we had to wait a while to find a seat. That capped off a really disappointing stay. Staff seemed rude and unwilling to help: nobody told me whether parking was available at the hotel or on the street. When I asked about checking in early, I got an annoyed response. They handed me a sheet in Swedish instead of explaining the basic information, and even the breakfast hours were missing, so I had to ask.
