Skärgårdshotellet

After a tiring trip in by sailing yacht, I spent a few days resting at this sailing-themed hotel. The memorabilia around the place is lovely, and I got to sail other yachts during my stay. I finished with a spa booking, joined by two other sailing captains. Jukka, Gustav, and I left feeling rested and happy. I also spent quite a bit of time at the guest marina and told many of the captains about the hotel. They know where to stay when they need a night ashore in Nynäshamn. The staff worked hard to make my visit pleasant despite a few issues, and the service was excellent overall, better than at many hotels I’ve stayed in around the world. Breakfast starts early and is kept well stocked. Jonatan’s attention to detail at breakfast stood out, and Isabel was very accommodating. Helene at reception was an absolute gem. Julia made a serious error, but I appreciated how dedicated she was to putting it right. Anna from Indonesia and the lovely cleaning staff member from Albania, whose name I’m sorry I can’t remember, also deserve thanks. I left some artwork I’d made during a much-needed bit of downtime, and I’ll finish a little more later. I felt happy and inspired here. We hadn’t known about the small wellness center until we arrived. It costs extra and has a hot tub, sauna, water massage table, and shower, with slippers, towels, and robes provided. Booking it gives you a private session for your group. The hotel is lovely, right across from the ferry, and breakfast is included with a wonderful selection.

The late arrival instructions weren’t clear when booking. The listing said reception was open from 07:00-23:00, but they called to say there’d be no staff after 22:30. They said I had to pay then to get the door code, and they wouldn’t accept me at the hotel if I hadn’t paid. They also wouldn’t let me pay in the morning. It seems they don’t know how to run this business and need training. What if my flight had been delayed longer, or they couldn’t reach me by phone?

A good-sized hotel that’s exceptionally well run by a family. It was spotless, and staying there made me feel like part of the family. The level of service was outstanding, the kind that’s hard to find these days.
