Två Skyttlar

Dinner had a cozy, classy feel, and the walks around the area are worth making time for. A quick dip in Ören in winter sounds bracing 🥶. I love the nature here and the lake’s pure water, and the new sauna and relaxation area is lovely. Food and drinks are top class, with homegrown vegetables fitting the Manor’s values. I often recommend Två Skyttlar, so I checked more than just my own room during a site inspection. The rooms and surroundings felt welcoming and in keeping with the Manor’s core values each time. Someone unhappy with a particular room may have had an issue that could be fixed, but my experience was quite different.

The setting was quiet and beautiful, and we had free charging for our EV. Our lake-view room felt snug but modern, especially the bathroom, and the terrace looked all the way out to the lake. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. It was an easy place to settle in and unwind.

The quiet, cozy surroundings made for a peaceful break from city life, and breakfast had plenty to choose from: bread, yoghurt, fish, waffles and eggs. The smoothie was tasty, and the burger fries were crispy. The rooms were large, the beds comfortable, and sparkling water was free. But the bathroom floor had dark spots and smelled of sewage. I also found forgotten socks under a table, chocolate bits and dust on the floor, and crackers beneath the bed. I told the receptionist, who apologized and said the room would be cleaned the next day. The dirt was still there afterward. That left me wondering whether the room had been cleaned at all, which is concerning in a hotel. I could have rated the place four stars, but the bathroom and lack of cleaning brought it down to two. There’s potential here, but I’d want to see cleaning taken seriously before recommending it.

The food was a lovely surprise, from the freshly baked bread and cakes to the generous breakfast buffet. Our room was simple, recently remodeled, and comfortable. Everyone on staff was helpful and friendly, spoke perfect English, and made us feel welcome right away. We came for a wedding, but the idyllic grounds, quaint cabins, beautiful lake, sauna and hot tubs would bring us back for a regular holiday too.
