Stora Hotellet i Fjällbacka

The room was dark and a bit damp-feeling, even though it was early August. We stayed in a ground-floor double, and the decor didn’t make it feel cosy or comfortable to spend time indoors. The location is very good and the staff are friendly, but that’s where the advantages end. It wasn’t top standard for the money, and breakfast was average.

The food... mmmmmh! And the atmosphere was the best. We dropped in with no expectations and this pearl exceeded them all. The crew were friendly and down to earth, and the location, view, style, tastes, and attitude were all great. Every room is unique, and we got a great one. I’m going back as soon as possible!

I love the hotel's atmosphere, and all the rooms are unique. Some are a bit small, even for a couple. At breakfast, the order of things on the counter was confusing, so I kept walking back and forth between items. Still, four stars.

After work we were exhausted and hoping to relax, but instead we ended up searching for somewhere to sleep until 11pm. My sambo booked through the website and got confirmation around 6pm, yet nobody was there when we arrived. We kept calling, emailing, and texting for an hour without an answer, waiting outside in vain. Then someone called and said they were short-staffed and hadn’t been able to see the booking. If they can’t accommodate bookings, they shouldn’t make rooms available on their site, like the other hotels in the area. What an experience. If you book this hotel in May, call ahead to confirm so you don’t go through the same thing.
