I was driving through snow and needed somewhere to stop for the night, so I chose this lovely little hotel in a snowy seaside town. It's quaint and has been excellent so far.

The room was comfortable and clean, though the smell of food cooking in the hotel's kitchen lingered all night. We chose the place because it was supposed to have EV chargers, but on arrival we were told they had been ordered and weren't ready yet. Breakfast was very basic but okay. For what they provide, it felt a little expensive.

At 1,700 SEK a night for a double room for two, listed as a suite or larger room type, I expected more. The common areas felt worn and hadn't been cleaned well. The room also seemed run down, as if it hadn't been renovated since before this millennium. Service was handled by phone, which would be fine for a small hotel in a small town. They offer cookies and chocolates, a nice touch, but it doesn't make up for the rest. Breakfast was missing a lot of the usual choices, with no hot food like bacon or scrambled eggs, and the dining room felt like an old Soviet cafeteria or a care home. I might have rated it a 3 if I'd paid under 1,000 SEK, but at this price it's a 2. I'd try one of the chain hotels instead. Have a nice stay in övik!
