Trunna Vandrarhem & Konferens

We were told on arrival that we'd have to move rooms after two days, and when we expected an apology, all we got was “It is what it is.” The next day, the manager told me the move would be a day later when I asked about the timing and arrangements. Then the day we were meant to move came with no information at all, so we chose to leave. Nobody noticed or seemed to care.

The breakfast was good, though it cost extra as expected. The stay itself was expensive, and the rooms were extremely warm with no air conditioning anywhere. I've stayed in hostels all over the world, and this was the first one to charge extra for cleaning, with the pretty awful explanation, “Vi är ju ett vandrarhem..” It might have felt acceptable if the stay had been cheaper.

I could check in an hour early, which was great service, and the bed was comfortable. My own bathroom in the Annex was clean and nice, but the room was cramped, had cracks in the walls, and was incredibly noisy. I came for sleep, but could hear the neighbours upstairs walking and talking as if they were in my room. Their bathroom was downstairs right beside my room, and I heard everything until it went quiet at 1:00. Then everyone started again at 7:00. It felt like I might as well have booked a shared room. The listing said “own enterance,” though the door was shared with everyone in the Annex and right next to my room. It also promised a “view on the garden,” but the room was beside the road and trashbins, and I heard every glass bottle being dropped in. I don't think 60 euro's is cheap when you have to clean your own room, can't sleep, and have to pay extra for bedlinnen and breakfast. I booked the room with its own bathroom and brought my dog.

The building is very old style, and could use the odd fix here and there, but it's a great hostel in my opinion. The breakfast is amazing, the best in Orsa, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They also serve great dinner food for large parties. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
