The restaurant food was good, though pricey, and the balconies had great views. I also liked having bikes to get around, and the sauna and spa area was really nice. By the end of the day, though, there were no fresh towels there, just a pile of used ones. The bigger issue was that the stay didn’t match what I’d booked from the hotel and booking.com descriptions. The rooms shown online weren’t the ones we got: instead of the stylish, muted Scandinavian look, ours had badly coloured carpets and a golf mural. Robes weren’t provided and had to be rented. I’d specifically booked an upper room for a couple of hot days because air conditioning was advertised, but there wasn’t any. When I raised that at reception, they said, “Sweden like Europe doesn’t have AC…we have cooling air…” With the rooms so hot, we needed the balcony doors open, but the balcony lights attracted bugs that then tried to get inside. Reception said there were curtains, but the privacy curtains in both rooms didn’t cover the full width, and the main curtains weren’t blackout. At least the lights went off around 23:40. Reception also closed at 6. If you arrived after that, the restaurant handed over the keys, but we got no information about the hotel or local area, such as what was available or where to go. A local map and a suggestion to use the bikes would’ve helped. The bathroom was basic and the shower pressure wasn’t great. The place feels like it’s aiming for a high-end hotel without the budget to match. I’m not sure if it’s meant for everyone or just golfers needing a basic overnight stay. It didn’t feel better than a UK Premier Inn.
